UNC Vs Duke – Pink Out Game
On Wednesday October 4th, The North Carolina Tar Heels matched up against Duke University, their biggest rival, for an exhibition charity game. This game was in support of the sorority Zeta’s fundraising for breast cancer research. Although this was just an exhibition, the Tar Heels weren’t going to hold anything back against this longtime rival.
The Tar Heels hit the ice flying, and from the opening few shifts it was clear that Duke didn’t stand a chance. The Tar Heels were first on every puck and asserted their offensive dominance from the start. Their puck control was impeccable, demonstrating a high level of skill and team coordination. Every time Duke tried to make a push, they were shut down immediately. The first period ended with the Tar Heels leading 5-1.
Despite the significant lead, the Tar Heels did not become complacent. Instead, they continued to press hard, maintaining their aggressive style of play throughout the second period. Duke, on the other hand, was clearly struggling to find their footing. Their defense was often caught out of position, leading to numerous high-quality opportunities for the Tar Heels. In the second period, the Tar Heels added another 5 goals to their tally, while Duke managed to sneak in 2 more, bringing the score to 10-3. The crowd, dominated by Tar Heels fans, was ecstatic, cheering loudly and chanting in support of their team. As the third period commenced, the Tar Heels showcased their depth as their third and fourth lines contributed with goals of their own. Duke tried to rally, making a few bold offensive plays, but the Tar Heels’ defense stood strong, limiting them to only one more goal in the period. The Tar Heels added 5 more goals in the third, sealing the game with a resounding 15-4 victory.
