Jay Banzet

J Banzet joined the Carolina hockey program as the Director of Media and Team Videographer in July of 2022. In that role, Banzet manages all social media production and assists with other creative tasks as needed. He also works with the UNC Football team as a manager, where he works with the equipment crew, and as a student coach with the defensive staff. In his spare time, he helps lead a group of students in the journalism school to make documentaries about national championship seasons for all non-revenue sports at UNC. The group has made three in the last calendar year.

Before his work with Carolina hockey, Banzet worked as an analyst and reporter for the journalism school’s show “Sports Xtra,” called ACCHL tournaments with Graham Tuck and High Point University, served as a production assistant for GoHeels Productions (ACC Network/ESPN) on-campus, and written for the sports desk of The Daily Tar Heel.
