Captain Matt Grady Injury Report

Tar Heel Hockey Team Captain Forward Matt Grady suffered a upper body injury during the first period of Friday’s game against Kentucky. The play was ruled as a boarding penalty on Kentucky, followed by roughing on UNC’s Owen Kenny after the incident occurred. Grady was sent into the sideboards, smacking his side and upper body. When he did not immediately get up, medical staff visited him on the ice. Grady was pulled out for the remainder of the game and has an unannounced return time. For Saturday’s game, North Carolina will utilize one of their substitute captains in the lineup.

“That’s our philosophy is when a guy goes down, the next guy’s got to step up,” Head Coach Steve Rice said.
