This past Friday, our Tar Heels showcased resilience and skill in an exhilarating away game against Wake Forest. Despite a challenging start the Tar Heels kept the score tied at 0-0 and fought on without their best stuff. As the game progressed, they found their rhythm, scoring goal after goal in a stunning display of offense. By the end of the second period, the scoreboard read 6-1 UNC.
However, the third period tested our mettle. The Tar Heels faced a series of penalties that shifted the game’s momentum, allowing Wake Forest to claw back with powerplay goals. Despite these challenges, our Tar Heels held strong and emerged victorious with a 7-5 win. It’s noteworthy that all of Wake Forest’s goals came from powerplays, emphasizing the need for the Tar Heels to maintain disciplined and poised.
Dominance Continues Against Texas A&M – Nov 12
The energy and confidence from Friday’s win carried over to Sunday’s game against Texas A&M. The Tar Heels team hit the ice with determination, scoring within the first 5 minutes and setting a high pace for the game. Although Texas A&M briefly equalized, The Tar Heels quickly regained the lead and maintained control with a score of 2-1 after the first.
The second period was a testament to our offensive prowess, as we added two more goals to the tally, entering the third period with a comfortable 4-1 lead. An early goal in the third further solidified our advantage, making it 5-1. The final period saw our defense shine, effectively locking down the D zone and ensuring a strong finish. The game ended in a decisive 5-2 victory, marking a weekend of success for our Tar Heels.
